Motherwort for Menopause Hot Flashes


If you have not heard of Motherwort it has been used before the 1600’s by European, Native American and Chinese women as a natural relief for hot flashes.  One of the common uses for it has been for calming without the use of medication.

However, Motherwort is also known for helping with hot flashes, depression, anxiety and insomnia. It has reportedly been used as a heart tonic for lessen palpitations and angina.

Calming Motherwort Tea

Take 1–3 cups of tea a day. Just pour boiling water over 1 tsp dried herb and let steep for 10-15 minutes. If the tea tastes bitter, add some raw honey or natural cane sugar. Motherwort can also be made into a syrup, conserve or herbal vinegar. Or you can take 5-20 drops of tincture in a bit of warm water.
