Pt II Blood Sugar…Mood Swings…Relief for Menopause Symptoms

I discovered more information on slowing the absorption of sugar in your blood to lessen mood swings so I thought I’d share it with you.

I don’t know about you but I can use all the info or insights I can get relative to mood swings to help with menopausal symptoms. So here goes, by combining high-quality carbohydrates with lean protein you may be able to slow the absorption of sugar in your blood which can result in reducing mood swings.

High fiber carbohydrates are those rich in soluble fiber such as oats, barley, and certain fruits and veggies.  Here is an example:  an egg white omelet with lots of veggies, grilled chicken and various peppers along with a whole grain bread or wrap, stir-fry with your favorite fish and lots of beautiful green broccoli.

So here’s to healthy eating, lowering our blood sugar and reducing those nagging mood swings.

To your excellent health!

Living with Menopause

Some women will say that menopause is a natural experience and quite enjoyable. Most women will not agree. The symptoms of menopause can be confusing and difficult for both women and everyone around them. Diet and exercise can help women ease them into the next stage of their life and it really does make a difference.

Many women go through menopause without even knowing or understanding what is going on with their bodies. The number of eggs in women’s ovaries decreases and estrogen and progesterone levels waver and then decline. Periods will be irregular for a while (different with all women) and then stop altogether. Because of the drastic hormone changes, women’s bodies go through various side effects.

Menopause side effects aren’t your everyday headaches and cramps, but instead women could suffer some serious health effects. Weight is usually redistributed and will go straight to the stomach. This is why an exercise program is encouraged. There is also an increased risk of heart disease and osteoporosis. Consuming extra calcium can help prevent osteoporosis. Cholesterol levels also rise in many women.

Symptoms of menopause that most women can expect to experience, whether mild or severe, include hot flashes, insomnia, anxiety, fatigue, mood swings, frequent urination, vaginal dryness, and even depression in some cases. There are conventional medications that can be taken to boost your estrogen levels and help minimize symptoms. One of the best ways to enjoy a healthy, happy menopause lifestyle is by eating a nutritious and healthy diet.

AROMATHERAPY …FOR COPING WITH HOT FLASHES

Admittedly, I simply love aromatherapy.  If you are not aware of the term or have never experienced aromatherapy, it is the art and science of using plant essential oils in the treatment of mind, body and spirit.  You may have experienced aromatherapy during a massage when the massage therapist used various oils to sooth and massage your body.

The inhalation of the oils during the treatment can have a very relaxing and mellow effect on your mind and on your body.  When the oils are used correctly there is no problem relative to safety; however, if you are unsure of an oil’s properties you should do your research or check with a holistic practitioner. However, you do not need a prescription nor do you need to see a doctor prior to using the treatment.

Aromatherapy can possibly offer an option to hormone replacement therapy (HRT) to aid in the lessening of menopausal discomforts.

SOY PROTEIN…COPING WITH HOT FLASHES

Are you coping with hot flashes? Want to reduce hot flashes naturally? I know I do not want to go the HRT or Hormone Replacement Therapy route. So, I’m continuing my research to help both myself and you my reader to “discover” a Hot Flash Natural Treatment which help you in coping with the dreadful hot flashes.

Over the years we have heard and probably read a lot about how soy can help lessen the discomfort of menopausal symptoms.

Honestly, I’ve never tried soy for aiding in relieving menopausal dreads, but continue to read a lot about the potential benefits. Nonetheless I just read some information on how soy protein can bring about a solution, so I want to pass the insight on to you.

From my reading I’ve read that 2 or 3 teaspoons of soy protein in a women’s daily diet can ease the discomfort and distressed feelings brought about by hot flashes. You can consume the protein in many forms. You can add it to your power drinks, add it to your homemade smoothie, sprinkle it over cereal or simply add it to a glass of juice.

Remember, like all other natural remedies, it may take a while for you to experience the positive effects of the soy protein. I encourage you not to give up after a few attempts at gaining relief through a hot flash natural treatment.
You can purchase a high quality soy protein at your local health food store. For more information on the possible benefits of soy protein talk to your holistic practitioner. You may find one at your local health food store.

Immune Builder & Antioxidant Overall Good Health Enhancer

Garlic has been around for ages.  It has been used as a flavor enhancer, and medicinally to prevent and lessen various ailments.   Remnants of garlic discovered in 5700 year-old Egypt tombs are testament to its long history.  Garlic is in the same family as onions, leeks, shallots and chives.  It is also known for boosting the immune function, detoxifying the liver, protecting the heart against the damaging effects of chemotherapy, as well as being a potent antioxidant, immune builder and the list is endless.

AGE or Aged Garlic Extract has been the subject of over 650 research studies, which have investigated its efficacy in lowering heart disease risk factors, preventing cognitive decline, boosting the immune system, combating cancer, protecting the liver and much more.   AGE is produced by the prolonged extraction of sliced raw garlic in diluted ethanol for approximately 20 months.

There is just so much to say about the benefits of AGE…so I suggest you do a bit of research for yourself…as for me, I heading out tomorrow, to my trusty health food store,  to purchase  an ample quantity for me and my family…

NOTE: Prior to consuming any herbs or remedies for your health, I suggest you do your research and check with a health practitioner to make sure the herb is right for you.
