Black Cohosh Hot Flashes Breast Cancer Update

Good News for women facing breast cancer.  Help for lessen the effects of treatments. A recent report by the Gynecological Endocrinology, 2011 a study of 50 menopausal with breast cancer undergoing tamoxifen treatment took 2.5 mg to 10 mg of Black Cohosh  extract per day for six months. 


The women recorded their menopause symptoms before taking Black Cohosh, and at one, three, and six months.  Symptoms included hot flashes, heart palpitations, sleep problems, irritability, anxiety, fatigue, bladder, muscle, joint, and sexual problems.  Overall, the women had ho side effects fro Black Cohosh and reported many fewer, and less severe, menopausal symptoms after six months.  Hot flashes, sweating, sleep problems, and anxiety improved most.

Magnesium Natural Relief for Hot Flashes During Breast Cancer Treatment

I want to share with you encouraging information I read recently regarding natural  relief for hot flashes  during breast cancer treatment.  The results of the study are  reported by Gynecological Endocrinology.  According to the study, 25 menopausal women experiencing at least 14 hot flashes per week while undergoing various breast cancer treatments took 400mg or 800mg of magnesium oxide per day.

After four weeks, hot flashes had declined from an average frequency of 52 per week to 28 per week, or 41 percent lower.  Also, hot flash severity declined by at least 25 percent in three out of four of the women.  Side effects were few and minor, and many of the women continued to take magnesium for hot flashes after the study ended.

Because of these promising finding and low cost of magnesium tablets, researchers are planning a placebo controlled study.  I must say that is exciting news because unquestionably, women who under go breast cancer certainly deserve a natural relief for hot flashes they experience during the treatment.
